De Facto Application Ireland

Applying as an unmarried partner, done right.

This session is for unmarried couples building the de facto partner application. There is no certificate to lean on, so the whole case rests on evidence of a shared life, and our team show you exactly what that file needs to contain.

It covers partners applying from abroad and those already living in Ireland.

How it works

The route at a glance

1

Prove the relationship

A relationship akin to marriage, with at least 2 years of living together immediately before you apply.

2

Apply before you travel

Partners joining from abroad are pre-cleared or hold a join family visa first, whatever their nationality, and wait outside Ireland.

3

Meet the sponsor tests

No wait for Irish citizen or Critical Skills sponsors; 12 months and an income test for General permit sponsors.

4

Register and work

Stamp 4 with an Irish citizen sponsor, Stamp 1G with a permit holder, and both allow work.

One session

Why book a session for this

An honest read on whether your evidence proves 2 years of shared life.

There is no marriage certificate to lean on, so the file is everything.

The policy was rewritten twice recently, and much online advice is out of date.

A document list built to the standard the Immigration Service actually expects.
